When I first heard that Nebraska was leaving the Big 12 Conference for the Big 10, I was not real happy.  I had an attachment to all of the other teams that I had grown so used to playing…Mizzou, Texas, Colorado, Oklahoma, and I had absolutely no desire to see those rivalries come to an end.  Sure, I knew that the Longhorns were the puppetmasters that ran the conference.  And yeah, I know that the University of Nebraska stood to gain a lot of money by breaking all sorts of conference contracts and signing new ones.  But what I failed to see at the time was exactly how corrupt you (the Big 12) were.

I’m glad that this season has brought out your true colors.  Never has the blatant hatred toward our program been so obvious as it was tonight in our face-off against Texas A&M.  I mean really officials?  Could you have at least tried to cover a little bit your contempt for the Huskers?  When one of the teams (who just happens to be from Texas)  playing has 2 penalties called for a total of 10 yards and the other team (who just happens to have announced that they are leaving the Oh-So-Holy Big 12 at the end of the season) has 16 penalties called on them for a total of over 140 yards…you cannot even try to claim that there is not some degree of bias on the sides of the officials.

So I guess that the moral of this story is that hey, it was kind of fun while it lasted.  There were some good memories made but it is all too clear that our welcome in this conference has run out.

But these last couple weeks have been really trying for me. I have just felt out of place. I have been feeling very insecure about myself physically, my abilities and capabilities, the realities of my dreams, and my personality (i.e. what I bring to relationships). I know that these are just things that come and go but there have just been some issues that have been brought to light in the past couple weeks (specifically in dealing with relationships and my future) that have made me question how honest I have been with myself in managing my life. As I started to seriously look forward to my future I realized that I am growing up and I am terrified because very soon I will be thrown out into the real world.

So after looking long and hard at my four year plan and my schedule, I decided that the best thing for me to do would be to accelerate my schedule and graduate a semester early. So here I sit, geared up and ready to graduate the class of December 2011. Honestly, I have no idea what I plan to do after that…currently I’m thinking about going abroad and taking living wage jobs to pay off my school loans and making just enough money to support myself and my traveling, but who knows. It sounds a little bit too “hippy” for my personality, but I’m no strings attached right now and what better time is there to be a world traveler?

So today I walked across campus during a monsoon. 10 minutes before it wasn’t raining…25 minutes later it wasn’t raining…fml

So this weekend I had a family reunion back in Nebraska…azs you can see, we’re all animals.

Our Shining Star at the powwow! And tomorrow we get to see his sister! So worth the 24 hours of driving.
